I have three years of teaching experience at the University of Tennessee, where I taught calculus to students at a variety of levels and in a variety of formats. I have a Master of Science, and a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics.

My teaching philosophy is based on the idea that students understand math best when they understand why something works, rather than just knowing the steps. When I work with students, I begin by having them explain how they think about a problem, and I identify specific challenges and mental blocks. Then, I work through these with clear explanations and plenty of examples. I believe that every student is capable of understanding math - even enjoying it! My lessons are fun and engaging, and emphasize core concepts. My goal is to make students feel so confident that they could teach a lesson themselves.
My lessons start with a review of core concepts, and addressing questions. Then, I dig into problems and examples to make sure that the ideas stick.
