About Sorrel
I have 11 years of experience teaching Mathematics to students preparing for exams, university study, and stronger analytical development. I earned an M.Sc in Applied Mathematics, which gave me a deep academic foundation in mathematical modelling, problem-solving structures, and real-world applications of advanced theory. This background allows me to teach both foundational and higher-level topics with clarity and strong conceptual understanding.
My teaching approach is supportive, structured, and focused on long-term confidence building. I believe students progress best when they feel encouraged rather than pressured, so I explain ideas step by step and adapt lessons to each learner’s pace. I enjoy helping students move from uncertainty into confidence by showing them how mathematical reasoning can feel natural and empowering.
Outside tutoring, I stay engaged with mathematics through continued study, exploring applications in engineering, finance, and scientific research. Teaching maths is deeply fulfilling because students often discover their own intellectual ability. Supporting that transformation remains one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

Mathematics becomes much easier when students stop viewing it as a set of isolated rules and instead see it as a connected system of reasoning and patterns. In my lessons, I guide learners through algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, and statistics using structured explanation and supportive practice. I focus on building deep understanding so students can solve problems confidently rather than relying on memorised shortcuts. Each session is designed to feel calm, clear, and encouraging, allowing learners to ask questions freely and strengthen their thinking step by step.
Lessons are adapted carefully to each student’s level and academic goals. Beginners work on foundational number skills, fractions, basic equations, and simple geometry reasoning. Intermediate learners develop stronger algebraic manipulation, function analysis, graph interpretation, and multi-step exam problems. Advanced students refine calculus applications, probability strategies, complex problem solving, and higher-level mathematical justification. Practice tasks and feedback are always included so students improve steadily.
Maths lessons also help students develop resilience, patience, and sharper analytical thinking. Over time, learners approach challenges with greater calm and confidence. My goal is to help students succeed academically while also discovering that mathematics is a powerful tool for understanding the world and building intellectual strength.
