I am a Professional mathematics tutor at Grand Rapids Community College. I have tutored students there and privately in both one-on-one and group settings for almost 9 years. Courses in which I've successfully tutored range from pre-algebra to calculus.

Whenever possible, I try my best to help students develop a conceptual understanding of the relevant topics. True conceptual understanding requires a grasp of, for example, WHY a specific method is better than the alternatives. And since there is no single path to conceptual understanding, I try to get students to approach problems from different perspectives so that they have a complete understanding of what is being asked for, how the desired solution can be obtained, and why the chosen route is best.
