About Tithi
I am a hard-working, organized, and punctual individual. I am always on time with my assignments, and they are all done to the best of my efforts.
I am good with python; I created a time-series forecasting model using the Arima library for my dad. Its main aim is for my dad to understand stocks better. It predicts values of the stock for the next 5 days using the past values of the stock and it also tests how accurate the predicted values are along with graphs helping my dad visualize the data. Another of my projects includes a tax calculator which is based on VAT, income tax, national insurance, and stamp duty. The user fills out forms in a python interface (Tkinter) with fields required to calculate the desired tax and then displays the tax calculated in a user-friendly interface. There are numerous features in the program including the calculated taxes can be saved which can be accessed anytime. Last but not the least, I also programmed a song quiz. The user needs to guess the name of the song based on the artists and length of the song. If the user is stuck, it gives a hint: the movie/album the song is from. In the end, it gives a score based on which attempt the user guesses the song accurately.
High school and A-level computer programming assignments were some of the things I loved doing and I often added more functionality to the program than what was required for the assignment. I intend to do a short internship as a data analyst or a computer programmer in the summer of 2021. During the lockdown, I used dummy data from my father's Six Sigma program to apply concepts of basic statistics to some real-life scenarios. Using these data sets I learned how to differentiate between discrete and continuous data, as well as understanding the concepts of sampling, ascertained when the median is a more appropriate measure versus average, I also observed how exceptions are outliers and I learned how to prevent them from corrupting an analysis and proved hypotheses using regression testing.
My Microsoft office skills are to be noted as well. Using the skills acquired in my A-level course, I have taught Microsoft Excel to my mother and created PowerPoint presentations, and presented them to an audience. In the time series forecasting model, the previous stock values were stored in an excel file which was then imported into python.
I worked in Kumon for 2-3 months and I interacted with students of ages up to 14 and helped them with Maths and English including marking their work, reporting back to the center head and the student’s parents. I also took training for peer mentoring and the Diana Award anti-bullying training, which allowed me to help a lot of students in high school by just communicating. Being a Leader of Learning in Maths during my second year in A-Levels, I tutored a whole class of first-year A-Level students.
