About Portia
I have just finished a 4 year degree in Financial Mathematics, where I learned a combination of risk management/financial engineering, quality assurance for industry, and applied mathematics and statistics. I believe being skilled in a subject also consists of how well you can teach, and this is why I would like to become a maths tutor.

My teaching methods are based on working through examples and exercise questions, explaining each step in a way that is naturally intuitive to the student; not only teaching students how to do the maths, but also why each step is used.
In addition to this I will teach theory to supplement these examples. What helped me the most during my undergrad was being able to effectively categorise topics and notice important similarities, differences and patterns amongst them.
