About James
I’m a physics undergraduate student at Bristol University, and I love my subject which involves elements of both physics and maths. I did A-level maths, further maths and physics (along with computer science) and achieved 9’s and A*’s in all these subjects at GCSE and A-level respectively. I love teaching and want to help people do better in their exams, as well as passing any and all knowledge I can down to help students become more interested in the subjects I am passionate about.

I like to have an interactive lesson with students and help them through past paper questions and how they might go about answering them, as this is what helped me achieve the grades I did.
The teaching method I believe in is ‘guided learning’ - I want you to understand how you would have come to the answer had I not been there to help. I believe this allows you to adapt to new situations in exams more effectively.
I tend to prefer to explain well the basic concepts that build up the more complex ones that you might encounter in exams; this once again furthers your ability to figure out solutions for yourself in an exam where the pressure may cause you to forget more detailed techniques, as well as generally improving your problem-solving skills. I want to teach intuition, rather than just memorisation - I believe the latter is both unreliable, and a bit boring!

Perfect! James, is an an excellent Maths Tutor. He has been been helping our son prepare for his GCSEs for over a year now, and has been incredibly knowledgeable and very responsive to his needs. He often helps him understand the things he fails to grasp in class. He is also very kind. I therefore cannot recommend him highly enough!
Perfect! My son has tried a few tutors and James was the best. He identified my sons weaknesses and he will address them one after the other. Highly recommend.

James was an excellent tutor he never missed a lesson and was very flexible if I need to change one. He is extremely knowledgeable and was able to easily breakdown topics to help me understand them. He also gives advice outside of tutoring sessions. Finally he took me from an E to an A in A-level physics.
