About Yilin
As a tutor, I am calm, patient, approachable, and a good listener when needed. I have strong communication skills, good at explaining and transferring knowledge to students.
Always come to class fully prepared, so that students will leave the class with knowledge learned and use it in their homework assignments.
I have rich experience within the IB PYP/MYP/DP Maths syllabus, and also good at teaching IGCSE and ALevel Maths.
After taking my class for a period of time, the parents have said that their children improved in-class tests, and it was also shown clearly in their performance on homework assignments for school.
I maintained friendly relationships both with my students and their parents.

I believe active learning works more effectively for students, hence most of my classes are student-centred. For primary and secondary school children, I like to ask and collect students' interests, design maths questions for them that is both related to the content and their interests, encourage to talk more, and become more active to respond and provide feedback.
For high school students I like to put more practice or exam style questions for them to solve, and guide them to the thinking and solving strategies required.
I believe by different teaching styles and techniques, maths should be fun for everyone, students should enjoy the process of learning rather than forced to memorise a theorem.
