About Julian
I am Julian Malory. I want to teach math because I like math, I like it when others become excited about math, and I want to make a living out of doing math. When we experience hardships or uncertainties, often we have outlets -- drawing, writing, playing music, reading, etc. For me, the "outlet" was doing math. That is, learning how to think mathematically. I want to share the skills I acquired, with others who could benefit from them.

My personal approach to tutoring involves avoiding rote memorisation. I don't enjoy that learning method and I don't think it's productive long-term.
Instead, I like using lots of examples and analogies and giving arguments for mathematical results (so you don't have to remember them; you can derive them). I put emphasis on building understanding and giving motivation for the mathematical ideas or procedures taught.
