About Maia
I am a dedicated Maths tutor with over 10 years of teaching experience and an MMath degree. My focus is on helping students build strong formal reasoning skills that go beyond routine problem solving. I enjoy introducing ideas through paradoxes, puzzles, and thought experiments. These methods spark curiosity and encourage deeper thinking. I guide students through mathematical proofs with clarity and patience. My teaching approach in Maths is gentle, thoughtful, and focused on deep understanding rather than memorisation. I guide students step by step so they can see the logic behind every concept. I believe higher mathematics becomes easier when ideas are built slowly and clearly. I teach a wide range of topics including algebra, calculus, abstract algebra, number theory, and mathematical proofs. I also support learning in advanced areas such as linear algebra, real analysis, discrete mathematics, and other theoretical concepts.
I encourage students to ask questions and explore ideas without fear. Each session is designed to help them think independently and develop strong reasoning skills. I work especially well with learners who enjoy building things on their own and exploring concepts deeply. I help them discover patterns, connections, and their own methods to approach complex theorems.
My goal is not just to solve problems, but to help students understand why solutions work. I support them in becoming confident thinkers who can handle challenging mathematical ideas. Over time, they learn how to approach unfamiliar problems with clarity. This creates a strong foundation for exams, research, and advanced studies. Mathematics then becomes not just a subject, but a new way of thinking.
