About Alex
I have graduated in Biomedical Science (BSc Hons) at the University of Birmingham and have a Master’s of Research in Public Health from the University of Manchester. I have advanced expertise in oncology, cell biology and epidemiology and thus can provide tutoring from a position of someone who has pursued a research career in science. Recently, I returned to studying as a mature student on a graduate entry medicine course and have thus consolidated my advanced knowledge of biology, biochemistry and statistics. Most of my experience is with the AQA syllabus but I am also open to tutoring with OCR. Additionally to this I can assist with GAMSAT exams and/or medical school interviews.

I have been tutoring GCSE science over the past couple of years and I really enjoy it. I tend to adopt a coaching and mentoring approach to my tutoring to help students become better learners in general. I have previous experience in high schools working with year 11s but I have been a clinical researcher in the NHS over the past 5 years or so. This year I chose to make a career move and have become a mature student studying Medicine. I have a lot of experience teaching all 3 sciences but also have a wealth of research experience because of my career and current course. Alex was tutoring my son in Science for the last two years. My son really liked science but found school lessons didn’t go over topics enough and really needed 1:1. Alex was friendly and approachable, he was good at bringing my son back on task when he went off on a tangent! He’s definitely helped my son, we haven’t had the GCSE results back yet but he definitely would have failed without his help. My son also said he’s going to miss talking to him.
Alex is a wonderful Biology tutor with great communication and teaching skills. I’d highly recommend him for GCSE and A-level tutoring.
