About Bibek
I am a competitive chess player with a FIDE rating of 1800 and a Chess.com Rapid rating consistently above 2250. I have also completed an MBA, which has strengthened my structured thinking, analytical skills, and decision-making approach—qualities that I actively apply in both my chess and coaching. I can also teach in three different language English Hindi and Nepali.
In competitive play, I have gained strong practical experience and have consistently performed well against FIDE-rated players in the 1600–1700 range. Recently, I defeated a Candidate Master (CM) at the UNSW Weekender, marking an important milestone in my chess journey. I also won Division 4 of the St George Champions Cup undefeated in a strong field where all opponents were rated above 1600.
I want to teach chess because I enjoy helping players improve in a clear, practical, and structured way. I understand how overwhelming chess improvement can feel without proper guidance, especially when learners are exposed to too much theory without understanding how to apply it in real games. My goal is to simplify the learning process and focus on what truly improves performance.
My coaching approach is practical and structured. I help students build a simple but effective opening repertoire of 1–3 openings for both White and Black based on their playing style. A major focus of my lessons is middlegame understanding and especially endgame technique, as these phases often decide the result of a game. Along with this, I also train calculation, tactical awareness, and game analysis to improve practical decision-making.
My aim is to help students become more confident, independent, and practical thinkers in chess while steadily improving their overall understanding and results.

My lessons are structured around creating a manageable repertoire of 1–3 openings for both White and Black according to the student’s style, while prioritising middle game decision-making and especially endgame skills to ensure practical improvement in real games. Remember most classical games reach endgames.
