About Kelsey
Hello there! I am looking to make maths and physics less confusing, mysterious and frustrating subjects for my students than they were for me during my education.
The “Ah ha” moments, those moments of deep clarity and overcoming, are some of the most meaningful and satisfying in education and I see tutoring as the best way to share more of them with the people who need them the most. Some of the most memorable moments in my early education were those where I would sit with a school peer and wrestle with a STEM concept until we finally came to understand it well enough to explain it to each other, solve problems and answer exam questions. Later in education, I used the same fun, conversational, inquisitive approach to explain and explore concepts with my university peers when they would ask “What is going on in this lecture Kels?”
I seek to leave my students as prepared and confident as possible, not only for their upcoming exams but for the following stages in their journey through education. Whether it’s helping my students progress with their learning goals, helping them create some of their own learning goals or simply offering guidance and perspective as it relates to the journey through education, I am here to help my students succeed.

I believe the best path to excellent grades is a deep understanding of the subject. Building understanding through my students’ current strengths and curiosity is the top priority in my lessons.
In my first session, I get to know my students' strengths, areas for improvement and preferred learning styles. The following sessions aim to build my students' foundational understanding by using explanations and activities tailored to their strengths and learning style. My hope is that students leave these sessions more confident in and curious about the subject because they begin to learn how to tackle their areas for improvement with their strengths and natural learning style. This will enable the students to keep building their understanding far beyond the tutoring period. Each session concludes with a small recap to check for any concepts which are still unclear so that we can start the next session strong. Finally, I encourage my student to give feedback about the session, particularly how their understanding has changed since the start and what activities resonated with them.
