About Maepa
I am Maepa Setjie Welcome, Medical Biochemistry PhD candidate at the University of Cape Town. I am a very humble, dedicated, outspoken and determined individual who always strive for success in learning and teaching. I believe sharing your wisdom, knowledge and expertise to others build a great community of knowledge in all aspects of life be it education in the classroom, on the street or everywhere were one can acquire knowledge and hold it with two hands for greater change. I developed passion for teaching back in 2012 when i was doing matric. We were stranded as grade 12 learners with no teachers for maths, and physics. But we took it upon ourselves as learners to give each other lessons in the space of qualified teachers. Furthermore, after passing grade 12 i felt the need to help the upcoming group of learners and help those at lower grades so they can be well equipped with their subjects of interest particularly maths and physics before matric. Moreover, entering tertiary education programmes really opened my eyes that so much has to be done at primary and secondary level for personal development.

I have been offering medical biochmestry tutoring lesssons to first year MBCHB students at University of Cape Town (march-august) 2020, worked closely with grade 8-12 learners at Sengage Secondary school 2013-2015 offering maths, physics and life sciences lessons. My teaching techniques are very unique such that i familiarize myself first with what learners/ students know on a particular subject and then shed light or give more insight to where they lack. Secondly, i aim to equip learners with independency and boost their confidence in expressing their opionions. Importantly, i outline the learning Objectives from the begining of each lesson and also afford learners a realistic revision without rushing them.
