As a Medical student pursuing a minor in Psychology, I’ve come to see language not just as a means of communication, but as a complex expression of the human brain. Understanding how we acquire, process, and retain language allows me to teach Spanish with greater empathy and intention. I’m aware of the role that motivation, memory, and emotion play in learning, and I tailor my methods to match different cognitive styles. My goal as a teacher is not only to help students learn Spanish, but to spark a genuine curiosity and connection with the language—so that speaking it feels less like a task, and more like a discovery of a new way to think, feel, and connect with the world.
