About Cindy
Hi, I’m Cindy! I’m a current medical student at the University of Otago, and I’m passionate about helping students succeed in science and math. I focus on making learning clear, engaging, and enjoyable, tailoring my approach to each student’s needs so they build confidence and real understanding.
Outside of studying and tutoring, I love going to the beach, exercising, and keeping a balanced lifestyle, which helps me stay energized and motivated. I take pride in being patient, approachable, and reliable, and I genuinely enjoy seeing students grow in their skills and confidence. My goal is to make learning science and math not just achievable, but rewarding and even fun!

I focus on making challenging concepts clear, engaging, and enjoyable, using a combination of worked examples, problem-solving exercises, and guided practice. I encourage active participation and ask questions to ensure students understand the material deeply, not just memorize it. I also provide exam tips, assessment guidance, and strategies for internal assessments and Extended Essays, helping students feel confident and prepared.
Lessons are typically 60–90 minutes, but I can adapt the length to suit individual needs and schedules. I tutor IB SL subjects (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Math), Extended Essays, and first-year university courses like HSFY and 100-level health papers, and I adjust my approach to suit different ages and levels.
As a current medical student at the University of Otago with an IB score of 43/45 (7s in all my SL subjects), I combine academic excellence with practical insights to make learning approachable and effective. My goal is to help students build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and achieve their best results, while keeping lessons engaging and tailored to their needs.
