About Maddy
While studying for the MCAT, I had to find the most efficient and effective ways to study science concepts. Although rote memorization may help you do well on a test, it is important to utilize other learning strategies to ensure full understanding of a concept and to help will recall later on. For example, when studying a physiology concept, it is helpful to draw a mechanism picture and then write out a sequence of events explaining that mechanism. The 'double-hit' will substantially better cognitive processing. Science can be intimidating, but when broken down in the right way, you'll find it becomes easier to learn new topics. Whether it's high school biology or human anatomy and physiology, I am committed to finding learning strategies that will serve the student well into their future.

Available for both high school, college students , and medical students focused on developing study habits that will serve you far beyond just the tutoring session. Depending on the subject, we can do problem-based learning or topic focused or a mixture of both. A typical lesson would start out with solidifying key concepts and then working through those concepts from different angles, to ensure complete understanding. I strive to personalize sessions based on the student's needs and the subject material. I also am willing to provide colorful and easy to digest concept summary sheets for the student's use after the session.
