About Ali
Hi! I'm currently a third-year medical student at the University of Nottingham, where I’m completing an intercalated degree in Medical Sciences. I also hold a Master of Science degree and achieved a First-Class Honours in Biomedical Science from Brunel University London, where I received an A+ for my dissertation. I’ve recently gone through the medical school application process myself; so it’s all still fresh in my mind. I know exactly what it takes to succeed and have already helped several students gain places at medical schools across the UK. That success inspired me to use this platform to support more aspiring doctors. I also bring real-world healthcare experience to my teaching, having worked within the NHS and received an Excellence Award for my contribution. This experience is particularly helpful when preparing students for medical school interviews, especially when discussing how the NHS functions and how to apply theory to real clinical contexts. From my own experience and from helping others, I’ve found that the most challenging areas for applicants are Medical school interviews, Personal statements and The Situational Judgement Test (SJT) section of the UCAT. These are often the least supported yet most crucial parts of the application. While many candidates have strong grades and UCAT scores, the interview is often what truly sets them apart. I offer tailored guidance on approaching interviews with confidence, structuring standout personal statements, and navigating the tricky SJT with clarity in which I received a Band 1. I also support dissertation writing, especially in biomedical and health sciences. Having earned top marks myself, I understand how important a strong dissertation is in your final grade and can help with planning, research, structure, and critical analysis. My lessons are always tailored to the individual needs of the student—I’m flexible, approachable, and committed to helping you succeed. In my free time, I enjoy staying active with paddle, squash, and basketball, and I love being outdoors.

Medical school interviews will be your make or break. This will be a huge factor in getting your offer as medicine is already saturated; there will be lots of high achievers but the interview will separate you from the rest. I offer structured, in-depth preparation of what will be asked in the interview and some of the topics that will come like Understanding the NHS, Medical ethics, “Why medicine?” vs. nursing/physician associate, Qualities of a good doctor, Trust and professionalism in medicine, Pros and cons of a medical career, Reflecting on personal strengths and weaknesses, Motivation for a specific university, "Why should we choose you?", Hobbies, interests, and current medical hot topics.
We will take a step-by-step approach to each theme, covering Effective strategies and structured answers, Interview techniques and mindset, Realistic role-play scenarios to build confidence.

Detailed feedback and edits on existing statements, Collaborative rewriting to enhance clarity, structure, and impact Tailoring your statement to meet the expectations of medical schools.
*UCAT – Situational Judgement Test (SJT) Focus*
While there are excellent platforms for general UCAT preparation, I focus specifically on the SJT section, which many applicants find especially difficult. I provide A structured approach to answering SJT questions, Worked examples to build familiarity, Guidance on ethical reasoning and professional judgement, Decision-making frameworks to maximise your score.
*Dissertation planning, writing and feedback*
Having already earned a First-Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science, I understand the importance of a strong dissertation, which often forms a significant part of your final grade. I offer tailored support on Choosing a viable, high-impact research topic, Structuring your dissertation (introduction, methods, results, discussion), Building a clear research question and hypothesis, Literature review techniques and referencing (e.g. Harvard style), Interpreting data and presenting results effectively, Critical analysis and linking back to research aims, Proofreading, formatting, and ensuring academic tone.
