About Jess
I hold an MFA in Poetry from the Bennington Writing Seminars, a BA from Wells College - where I received distinction in my major and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Furthermore, I graduated from Simmons University with a Master's in Library and Information Science. I have had over 9 years of experience teaching database instruction, which was very similar to my 6 years of creative writing workshops, as all the database instruction needed was to tell the users what to do in similes they could understand. For example, "This operating system is like the book *Middlemarch*, everything is a web and interconnected and if one thing goes out, it all goes out." A little about me: I love poetry, crafting, gardening, and taking care of stray cats in my neighborhood. I explode with enthusiasm about the narrative arc of stories and the volta smash in poetry. I also watch too many bad movies while embroidering, it's a delightful vice of mine.

Student levels: seeking to enter college, pursuing BA & MFA, I work with patience with each student and work to understand them as a human being with lives outside of tutoring, however, I will hold them accountable for all work and deadlines. I listen to what your goals from the experience. All lessons are remote and paced around a balance around school/social/professional work life of the student. Lessons will be held routinely (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) based on the needs of the student. If homework is assigned it will be returned within 3-4 days. Extensions will be given on a case by case basis.
