About Erin
I am an interdisciplinary artist working in painting, digital design, fashion design, and textiles. My work synthesizes all of theses areas of making to create wearable garments and large scale abstract paintings. I simultaneously work in video, graphic design, and AI as well. I have a wide range of art making skills.,which makes me a great teacher and tutor for students who are just getting into art-making! I have been an instructor of record at Ohio University for the last few years, teaching classes in oil painting, drawing, design, and digital art.

My art practice is my passion, but I am also very passionate about helping students better themselves in their artistic journey! I have been instructing fine art courses for four years now. I just completed my MFA, so I have a youthful and contemporary approach to art instruction which makes learning with me fun and engaging. I can teach many ages, but am most specialized with middle school, high school, and college-level students.
My teaching method is hands on. When I introduce a project, it is usually centered around one formal technique with some room for personal conceptual development. For example, if I am teaching a lesson on perspective in drawing, we will first complete a small exercise on the technical practice of perspective, using measurements and perspective formulas. Then, we would complete a longer project using those techniques. The longer project would involve having my students pick out rooms or spaces that are important to them in some way that showcases one-point and/or two-point perspective. They would then fully render these spaces through drawing. Therefore, they get to personalize their work while also continuing to work on their technical development; teaching art is all about individualization for me!
