About Jack
Hi! I'm Jack, a chemistry major at Michigan State University with a 4.0 GPA and a current undergraduate teaching assistant for general chemistry. I have experience helping students understand difficult chemistry concepts through lab instruction, office hours, and one-on-one guidance.

As a chemistry major at Michigan State University with a 4.0 GPA and extensive teaching assisting experience, I understand success in chemistry and mathematics comes from building a strong conceptual foundation rather than simply memorizing formulas. My goal is to help students develop problem-solving skills that can be applied to additional future courses.
I tailor each lesson to the student's individual learning style and goals. I guide students through problems and encourage their explanations to provide solutions, helping me gauge where knowledge gaps may exist and how to address those gaps effectively. I also build confidence through positive reinforcement and structured guidance to build lasting understanding.
A typical lesson begins with the identification of topics the student finds challenging. We then review the key concepts, work through guided examples together, and then practice increasingly difficult problems to ensure mastery. During this, I will periodically encourage questions throughout the lesson and provide strategies the student can use independently to build healthy study habits.
In my role as a teaching assistant, I have regularly worked with students who are encountering college-level chemistry for the first time. Through leading lab sessions and office hours, I have developed the ability to explain difficult concepts in multiple ways and adapt my teaching style to different learners. Outside of teaching assisting, I maintain high academic records as a chemistry major and have extensive experience in scientific research and healthcare settings, allowing me to connect classroom concepts to practical applications in science and healthcare.
My lessons are for high school chemistry and mathematics students, honors chemistry students, AP chemistry students, college general chemistry I and II students, students preparing for chemistry exams, and students seeking long-term academic support throughout a course.
