About Tatum
My journey with Excel began with the need to organize, analyze, and present data efficiently, which inspired me to pursue a B.Sc in Information Systems. Over 8 years of teaching, I have guided learners from basic understanding to advanced proficiency, helping them build analytical thinking, practical application skills, and confidence in handling spreadsheets independently. I focus on clarity, patience, and interactive instruction. Many students initially struggle because Excel is presented as disconnected commands. I use step-by-step guidance, practical examples, and hands-on exercises to help learners understand the logic behind formulas, functions, and tools. Encouraging experimentation and problem-solving is central to my teaching philosophy, allowing learners to internalize concepts effectively. Outside teaching, I engage with Excel through professional projects, data modeling, and exploring new features and automation tools. This allows me to bring contemporary, real-world examples into lessons. Teaching Excel is highly rewarding because I see learners gain technical mastery, analytical competence, and confidence in using a critical tool for academic, professional, and personal applications.
