About Angel
Hi! I’m Angel, a PhD researcher at the University of Melbourne with a background in biomedical science, genetics and neuroscience. Alongside my research, I’ve spent a lot of time teaching and mentoring students in different settings, including university practical classes, running workshops and some guest lectures, mentoring several placement students, and online private tutoring for undergraduates.
The reason I love tutoring is that I genuinely enjoy figuring out why something isn’t clicking yet. Everyone gets stuck for different reasons, and I think the best explanation depends on how you’re already thinking about the problem. My goal isn’t just to help you get the right answer, but rather to help you understand it well enough that you can tackle similar questions on your own.
Whether you’re trying to pass a difficult subject, catch up on complex topics, or looking to improve grades, I’d love to help you get there.

I don’t have one rigid lesson format because I think good tutoring depends on what you’re stuck on and why. I usually start by getting you to show me how you currently understand or approach a problem. From there, I try to find the point where it stops making sense and rebuild from there.
I like a very visual and interactive approach, lots of diagrams, working through problems together, asking questions and trying different explanations until we find one that clicks. I care much more about you understanding why something works than memorizing the right answer.
For online lessons I screen-share from my iPad so we can draw, annotate and work through material together. You’re also welcome to send me the topic, lecture material or questions beforehand so I can prepare around exactly what you need.
