About Lori
Hi, I'm Lori!
I am a Montessori Early Childhood Educator. I have 36 years of teaching experience both with my own 3 children as a homeschooler from kindergarten to grade 8 as well as being a certified educator.
I also have a Masters degree in counselling and worked as a psychotherapist for over a decade. I understand the science of reading and the research about reading from multiple fields, including psychology, linguistics, neuroscience and education.
I love to make learning fun! Providing games and incorporating my puppet friends to help children gain mastery and confidence in learning to read.
Each session is 30 minutes to an hour and jam-packed with fun! I am so excited to offer this time to help your kids excel!

Emerging readers will establish firm foundations in the subskills that lead to strong decoding and fluent reading, including phoneme play, letter-sound relationships, encoding, decoding, and onset-time, rhyming, and sight word fluency.
Pre K
What are the benefits of pre- literacy skills?
When you teach a child early literacy skills, the learning process influences the entire functioning and development of the brain. Young children learn fun ways to master their letter sounds and build strong connections for reading.
Systematic instruction is logically sequenced to build on prior knowledge, ensuring prerequisite skills are acquired before new skills are introduced.
Foundational reading skills include phonemic awareness, alphabet knowledge, knowledge of grapheme-phoneme correspondences, decoding and encoding skills, and oral reading fluency.
Kindergarten and grades 1 & 2
I'll have your kindergarteners reading at a 1st grade level by the end of kindergarten and elementary children grow at least 1.5 years in a single school year.
Instruction in foundational reading skills promotes the development of each of the key elements needed to proficiently read words in connected text. Each skill must be developed at two levels. First, students need to be able to perform skills accurately. That is they need to identify their letter sounds correctly, and they need to be able to correctly blend sounds to decode words and segment sounds to spell words. Children build automaticity quickly and are able to perform the skills with minimal conscious effort.
