About Nevin
I studied piano and music theory for 10 years, passed the final two levels of the MTAC CM test for Piano, and was invited to perform at a recital for top scorers. I have experience tutoring children at my local elementary school and experience tutoring college students in office hours, so I am confident I'll be able to find a teaching style which suits you. The more you tell me about what you'd like to work on and what your learning style is, the more I can customize the session for you – this is a team effort.

A typical session focused on music theory may be a free-form series of questions based on problems you are working on, or we can identify areas of struggle, strategies to overcome them, and practice those strategies. We can break down music you are composing, playing, or listening to as well. A typical piano or sight reading session will have a similar structure, but will be less focused on free-form questions, and instead on working through pieces of music. I can provide photocopies of sheet music or we can use music you already have. I can craft custom lesson plans based on your needs if you let me know ahead of time. I can bring practice problems / materials or you can provide your own. The more you tell me about what you'd like to work on and what your learning style is, the more I can customize the session for you – this is a team effort.
