About Ethan
I am currently an undergraduate student at Cal State Northridge studying music composition. My music has been performed by groups such as the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and La Mirada Symphony in venues such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Hollywood Bowl. As an educator, my main goal is to make music training fun and engaging. Often music lessons can become stale and lifeless when the teacher is endlessly throwing information at the student and the student isn't excited about any of it. My goal is to allow the student to fall in love with music and get them excited to learn. I also want to expose the student to multiple styles of music so that they get a full perspective of all that this art form has to offer.

-My approach is very hands on, my students will be doing exercises (both written and aural) with me depending on what aspect of music they want to focus on.
- Composition students will start with basic melody construction and learning how to write for different kinds of instruments.
- Music theory students will learn about harmony, building chord progressions, and harmonizing melodies. Applicable to both classical and contemporary styles.
- Ear-training will include transcribing melodies and harmonies by ear, basic sight-singing, and aural instrument identification.
- These lessons are aimed towards beginning to intermediate students, no matter the age.
- Specialized prep for AP Music Theory.
