About Yi-Shing
I am a pianist come from Taiwan. I am currently a fellow at Royal Academy of Music, in which I have gotten Master's degree (Distinction), Professional diploma and Advanced diploma in piano performance. I have won several prizes and have performed at venues like Wigmore hall, Colston hall, St. Martin-in-the-fields and have participated in Trondheim chamber music festival in Norway and tour in South France. I am also a scholar of Samling Artist programme.
I have had more than 10-year teaching experience in Taiwan and London. The genre I teach is mainly classical music, but as I do a lot of improvisation on different types of music, I also teach pop music and some Jazz-style music to meet students' interests. Apart from performance, I also teach music theory, aural skills, etc.
My students ranged from 4-year-old to adult, and from beginner to advanced ones who were preparing for applying for conservatories in US and UK. I also help students to prepare for exams like ABRSM, Trinity, etc.
I love teaching very much. Benefiting from my over 20-year concert performance experience, I am a solid pianist who can help students to explore and build up performance skills. However, for me, piano lesson is not just about learning professional technique, but also communicating with students, understanding and helping them to find out their interests and potential.
