The key to understand any topic is right from its roots. If you are well versed in your basics then you're half done. I'll clarify your concepts right from the topic names.
E.g Trigonometry- it comes from two words 'trigonon' (triangles) and 'metric' (measurement) i.e. measurements of triangles. Now that you know what Trigonometry means, you'll be comfortable with the topic.
