About Shobha
I hold a BSc in Biotechnology and an MSc in Pharmaceutical Science, and I work full time as a science laboratory technician in a school. Because I set up and run practicals every day, I know exactly what examiners look for in required practicals, and I can explain them clearly, step by step. I teach KS3 science, GCSE Biology and Chemistry, and [A-level Biology / Chemistry]. I am also a native Tamil speaker, so I can teach Tamil to children and adults, from the alphabet and first words to confident conversation, reading, and writing, and I can offer Tamil support to Tamil-speaking families. My lessons are patient, friendly, and matched to your child's level, and I focus on building confidence as well as grades. I believe language is learnt by using it, so we speak from the very first lesson. I start with greetings and everyday phrases, then introduce the Tamil alphabet gradually, a few letters at a time, using tracing, colour-coded flashcards, and pattern grouping so the script feels manageable. For children I use songs, short stories, and games. For adults I use real-life conversations and role-play, such as talking with family, shopping, and travelling. Each lesson begins with a quick recap, so new words stay in memory, and ends with a short "I can now say.." summary so you can see your progress. I adapt the pace and topics to each learner, and I provide simple worksheets for practice between lessons.
