About Oliver
Hey guys! I'm Oliver I'm 23 and have just graduated in biotechnology from the university of Nottingham. I've always enjoyed teaching because it comes very easily to me and doesn't feel like work. I love joking around with new people, especially younger people as a well timed fart often goes down a lot better than with adults. I firmly believe education should make someone fall in love or at least find some joy in the subject, not just practise passing the exam. Otherwise you don't really learn anything, and biology is awesome. So, my teaching style involves lots creative exercises like drawing lovely diagrams and mind maps etc. I've always been a visual learner so I think animations and models are a great tool. I was always naturally very good at school and realised faster and more reliable ways to pass the sciences than sticking your head in a textbook, mainly past exam papers and marked feedbacks where we walk through the mark scheme. I received A's at GCSE and A-level.

I firmly believe the best way for anybody to retain information and develop understanding is to enjoy what they're doing. Without generating interest it simply feels like work. So, I utilise a range of methods and activities with my students to incite joy with the subject at hand. For example, diagrams the student will get to create, annotate and detail over time. Or, interactive demonstrations with animations or clay/model handling to really get a 'feel' for biological processes!
Of course passing the exams are key. I will be providing exam practice in the form of past practice exams, marked feedback and walking through the mark schemes.
I have a bachelors degree in biotechnology and received A's at both A-level and GCSE. I have more than 6 years working with kids aging from 5-17 in various teaching environments from tennis summer camps to online tutoring and mentoring younger students at A-level. These lessons would usually be 1 hour long but can be made longer at request. Many thanks, All the best!
