About Thai
Hi, I'm Thai. I'm a Master in Real Estate Finance graduate working in real estate investment in London, and I tutor Business and Financial English alongside that work.
My path into tutoring is a natural one. After completing a BSc in Economics with Spanish at the University of Bristol, I went on to study an MSc in Real Estate at ESCP Business School, one of Europe's leading business schools. Studying Spanish to degree level gave me a deep respect for the process of learning a language — the small daily wins, the frustration of forgetting a word mid-sentence, the confidence that builds only when someone gives you thoughtful feedback rather than a shrug.
That experience shapes how I teach. I've been on the learner's side of the table, and I know how much difference the right tutor makes. My goal in every session is to be the kind of tutor I would have wanted — patient, specific in feedback, focused on what actually matters, and genuinely invested in each student's progress.
My professional background is in finance and real estate. I've worked in a UK-based real estate asset management consultancy and have worked and gone through interview processes with major global firms including JLL and Harrison Street. This means I know the real language used in professional finance — the vocabulary of pitches and client calls, the tone of internal emails, the phrases that make someone sound like a natural part of the team versus someone who studied English from a textbook.
Beyond work, I enjoy travel, cooking, tennis, and following developments in real estate and how technology is reshaping the industry — particularly how AI is starting to change how professionals write and communicate at work.
I take my teaching seriously and I take my students' time and money seriously. Every session I run is planned, focused, and designed to make measurable progress. Who my lessons are for:
I work with working professionals — usually intermediate to advanced English speakers — who use English at work and want to communicate more confidently, precisely, and professionally.
My typical students are:
- Finance, banking, and real estate professionals dealing with English-speaking clients or colleagues
- Consultants and corporate employees in international firms
- MBA candidates and postgraduate students in English-language programmes
- Professionals preparing for interviews at international companies
- Anyone moving into an English-speaking role or country for career reasons
- Lessons are best suited to adult learners with an intermediate level of English or higher. I'm not a good fit for absolute beginners or young children.
My approach
Every lesson is built around your real work and real goals. I don't use fixed textbooks or generic curricula. Instead, I design each session around what will actually help you this week — whether that's a client email you're drafting, a presentation you're preparing, a meeting you have coming up, or an interview you're getting ready for.
My teaching combines four elements:
- Practical conversation practice: realistic role-plays and structured discussion around your actual work situations
- Targeted correction: focused on the changes that will most improve how you sound professionally, rather than flagging every small error
- Industry vocabulary: building the specific language used in your field, including finance, real estate, banking, and consulting terminology
- Written work review: reviewing emails, reports, and documents you've written, showing you how to sound more natural and precise
Between sessions, I set small focused tasks (writing an email, watching a business news clip, preparing a summary) that we review together. This accelerates progress far faster than sessions alone.
Typical lesson structure
Lessons are 60 minutes. A typical session includes:
5-10 minutes of warm-up conversation with real-time correction
20-25 minutes of core focus work — role-play, document review, or presentation practice
10-15 minutes of vocabulary building relevant to your industry
10-15 minutes of review, questions, and setting between-session tasks
I also offer 90-minute sessions for interview preparation or intensive coaching before specific work events.

How I correct
Business English learners often worry about being over-corrected or embarrassed. I focus on the changes that will most improve how you sound professionally, and I balance direct correction with encouragement. Sessions leave you feeling more confident, not more self-conscious.
