About Cathy
My name is Cathy, and I'm a university graduate with background in Science and I love teaching. I have been tutoring students from elementary school to university education levels on different subject matters, including Chinese. As a native Chinese speaker who had studied in Chinese education system, I am equipped with great knowledge of Chinese speaking and writing. I hope with my expertise and passion, I can provide you with friendly environment where you can thrive in learning and improving Chinese. I believe teaching is about sharing knowledge and tailoring lessons based on students' interests and needs. I have extensive teaching and mentorship experiences, from tutoring elementary school students on speaking and writing Chinese, to mentoring university students on subject matters. From these experiences, I fully appreciate each student is different, and it's through open communication that I would find what students want to learn from lessons and design courses accordingly.
For a typical Chinese lesson, we would focus on a particular topic student is interested in (for example, speaking, writing, listening) and use different teaching techniques (books, stories, calligraphy, audios) to reinforce Chinese learning. Lessons are for beginner to advanced Chinese learning levels.
I'm patient, energetic and passionate about teaching. My goal is to help each student reach their full potential. I understand learning a new language can be daunting, so I want to make the tutoring experience as fun as possible, while achieving great learning results.
