About Cicely
I am a native Chinese speaker certified to teach Chinese in English, with extensive knowledge about different cultures and excellent writing skills. I used to live in China, South Korea, Denmark, and now I am traveling and working in Australia. As a commissioned writer for the Chinese magazine World Vison, I write articles about cultural heritage. I also own an English-Chinese bilingual blog about textile heritage that I update articles every two months. I am proud of my language and culture and would love to share it with people around the world. I am here to teach you Chinese and gain practical experience for myself as well :D

As a Chinese tutor, my teaching will be centred on your need and emphasize practice and cultural immersion.
1. Teaching Methods & Techniques
As a native Chinese speaker living in China for over 20 years, I will use situational dialogues and interactive exercises to help you naturally acquire language in authentic contexts. I will also tailor lessons to your proficiency levels.
2. A typical lesson plan
-Warm-up (10 mins): Review previous material (if there were) or introduce a fun discussion.
-New Content (20 mins): Explain key vocabulary or grammar with examples and Q&A.
-Practice (20 mins): Interactive exercises like pair dialogues.
-Wrap-up (10 mins): Summarize takeaways and assign personalized homework.
3. What sets me apart
In addition to my language and writing skills, I hold a PhD in ancient textiles so that I am expert in textiles and ancient culture. My knowledge in both language and culture makes me a perfect Chinese teacher, and my academic experience will help with your possible application for higher education.
