About Margot

I am a French native, with over 30 years' experience in translation and teaching, some of which spent teaching in a UK Grammar school. Being not only a tutor but also a mother with first-hand experience of both the independent and state British school systems, I understand the examination requirements and pressures placed on students at the different stages of their progression through the school system. I delight in helping my students overcome language barriers, enjoy their learning and fulfil their potential.

About the lesson

My aim is to help you become at ease with as much as possible of the French grammar, idioms and sounds required for success in the 13+, Common Entrance, Scholarship, GCSE, A-Level, IB, DELF or university entrance exams, guiding you through what is expected of you in each component of the exams, including dictation (dictée), conjugation, error spotting, gap filling, grammar solving, photo description, text summarisation and role play tasks. Sessions can also be booked for practice mock exams, where I will be happy to give you advice and go through mark schemes with you.

Margot quickly assessed my son's ability level, and managed to go straight in with focussed exam practice, which is exactly what he needed. She was totally prepared, and knew exactly what was on his syllabus, and what the exam structure would be. She has a very calm manner, and managed to take away the stress he was feeling. His exact words after his 2nd lesson were 'Margot is a lifesaver.'

We are a francophone family living in the UK with children who were previously in the French schooling system and are now in the English school system. Margot is able to tailor the lessons to challenge their more advanced level whilst simultaneously preparing them for the GCSE exam which they are doing as an additional subject without attending school classes.

She has a very kind approach to teaching which my son responds to very positively, as he undertakes his extra curricular classes with almost joy.

The in person lessons are really beneficial but having the option for an online lesson is also good.
