About Stanislas
Bonjour à toutes et à tous,
My name is Stanislas and I am from Normandy. I am currently a PhD student in Early Modern History at the University of St Andrews.
Prior to my doctoral Studies, I studied in classe préparatoire littéraire (a two-year intensive programme in humanities) in Lycée Condorcet in Paris, where I sharpened my literary skills. Then, I joined the University of St Andrews and graduated with a First-Class M.A. (Hons) in Geography and Modern History. In Scotland, I had the privilege to be the President of the French Society of the University of St Andrews. I endeavoured to make this society as inclusive as possible for non-native speakers by organising an array of diverse events, such as bavardages and literary cafés. Finally, I joined the University of Oxford (Pembroke College) to complete a Master of Studies in Early Modern History and graduated with Distinction.
I am really passionate about French culture and literature! I am therefore willing to pass my knowledge to anyone interested in the langue de Molière, whatever one's level may be!

The course adapts to the student's level and needs. It typically relies on varied resources such as articles, excerpts from novels, films, and podcasts, seeking to combine linguistic and cultural interests.
It also places great emphasis on oral practice. Having lived and studied abroad for over five years, I am aware of the necessity of daring to speak!
To improve the student's fluency both orally and in writing, I also underscore the importance of grammar, which allows for a better understanding of linguistic mechanisms.
Students will be asked regularly to write a short paragraph on a topic of their choice. This regular exercise promotes the practice of French grammar and the progressive articulation of a clear and distinct discourse in the langue de Molière.
