About Géraud
I am a French PhD student at the University of Calgary, where I have been studying since 2024. I was born and raised in Paris and lived there until I was 18, before moving to Montreal to complete my bachelor's degree.
Over the course of my university studies, I developed a strong interest in mathematics, which gradually led me toward the type of research I work on today.
I also genuinely enjoy teaching French. I particularly appreciate seeing people make the effort to learn my language and become more comfortable expressing themselves in it.
I am naturally curious and enjoy discussing a wide range of topics, including history, technology, travel, sports, science, and current events. This also makes it easy to adapt conversation-based French lessons to each student's interests.

For French lessons, I focus primarily on improving your speaking skills through engaging conversations. I prefer flexible lessons where the discussion naturally leads us to explore new vocabulary, expressions, grammar, and sentence structures. I can adapt the lessons to your current level, whether you are a beginner or already an advanced French speaker.
For math tutoring, I can help with a wide range of subjects, from arithmetic, algebra and geometry to calculus, probability, statistics and introductory mathematical analysis. I am currently a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary, and my research involves dynamical systems, stochastic processes and information theory, so probability, statistics and mathematical analysis are areas I am particularly strong in. I can tutor students from elementary school up to the bachelor's level and adapt my explanations to each student's background and objectives.
My atypical strength is to be able to tutor mathematics directly in French. This can be particularly useful for students enrolled in French Immersion or French-language programs who need help understanding mathematical concepts while also becoming more comfortable using French.
