About Yoshi
Hello, I'm Yoshi, a native Japanese speaker, professional photographer, and author from Japan.
I've lived in different parts of Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Kanazawa, Okinawa, and Nagano. I've also traveled extensively in Japan and abroad, and these experiences are an important part of my work as a photographer and author.
I have a university background in art and education, and I enjoy creating visual and practical learning materials. My experience allows me to share not only the Japanese language, but also real-life insights into regional culture, food, travel, customs, and everyday life in Japan.
I especially enjoy helping people who want to travel in Japan, communicate naturally with Japanese people, or simply understand Japan more deeply through the language.
Every student has different interests and goals, so I adapt my teaching to the individual. Whether you're starting Japanese from zero or already know some Japanese and want to become more confident in conversation, I'll help you learn at a pace that works for you.

My lessons are mainly designed for adult beginners and lower-intermediate learners who want to use Japanese for travel, everyday life, and natural conversation.
Each lesson is personalized according to your level, interests, and goals. I prepare and adapt materials for each student, using topics that are relevant to you, such as travel, food, hobbies, work, music, movies, photography, and Japanese culture.
We can practice through dialogues and real-life role-plays, using photos, maps, menus, signs, and situations that you may actually experience in Japan.
Rather than simply memorizing grammar, you will also learn natural expressions, the differences between formal and casual Japanese, and how to communicate appropriately in different situations.
Lessons are mainly conducted in Japanese, but when necessary, I can also explain some points in English or Spanish.

Yoshi is an incredibly patient teacher and cares a lot about the comfortability of his students! We had a lesson together, and he was kind enough to prepare a personalized slideshow highlighting my areas of struggle. He also noted down anything I wasn't able to understand, and at the end we came back to review them which helped me learn those words better! His English proficiency is also great, which was really helpful for anything I couldn't explain/ask in Japanese. Overall, I learned a lot with just one lesson, and being able to practice speaking Japanese (with Yoshi to correct any mistakes) made me feel like I could definitely improve my fluency with more lessons!!
