About Noel
**About me**
你好！I'm Nuoyi, but you can call me Noel. I was born and raised in Beijing, studied for my master's in the UK, and now I call Nashville home.
I speak standard Mandarin (Putonghua), and if you'd like to sound like a true local, I can teach you some Beijing accent too. Since I'm fluent in English, I'll explain things in a way that actually makes sense to you, from tricky grammar to the culture behind the words.
Outside of teaching, I work in film and live performance with arts organizations, so my lessons tend to be lively, story-filled, and never boring. To me, language is a bridge. It brings people together, closes the gaps between cultures, and helps us create something beautiful along the way.
I've lived in China, the UK, and the US, so I know exactly how it feels to land somewhere new and not know how anything works. That's why I teach the Chinese you'll really use, and why I love helping people settle into their first few months in China.
