About Lief
I’m Hao, a native Mandarin speaker from Shandong, China. I’ve been living in the UK for over eight years, where I completed my PhD in Economics at the University of Bath. Having spent years studying and working in English, I understand the challenges of learning a new language from both sides.
During my PhD, I worked as a teaching assistant for undergraduate seminars, gaining experience in explaining complex ideas clearly and adapting to different learning styles. I enjoy helping learners make steady progress — especially those moments when something finally clicks.
I teach because I genuinely enjoy sharing my language and culture. Whether you’re learning your first phrases or preparing for an exam, I’m patient, supportive, and happy to adapt to the pace that works best for you.

As a native speaker from Shandong, China, I provide authentic pronunciation alongside real cultural context. With a PhD in Economics, I’m skilled at breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps — helping you learn efficiently and with confidence.
Each lesson is structured for practical use. We begin with a brief review, introduce new vocabulary or grammar in context, and finish with guided speaking practice so you actively apply what you’ve learnt. The pace and content are fully adapted to your level, and complete beginners are very welcome.
Lessons are conducted online via Zoom or Google Meet, with flexible scheduling across time zones. All materials and notes are provided after each session.
