About Miguel
Right now I teach English both at university (to Spanish students of the degree in education) and at an extracurricular English school for young kids (where I follow a "natural learning" method that involves storytelling, singing, dancing, etc). In addition, besides having devoted my entire academic career to language studies (as I explain in my CV), I have had many other experiences in language teaching, including teaching GCSE and A-level Spanish in a British high school (in outer London) and participating in numerous exchanges with American students of Spanish. Furthermore, I have also worked as a private tutor of English for Spaniards of all levels, including teenagers, university students and even senior students over 55.

I base my lessons on conversations with my students whenever that is possible, and if not, I generally try to focus on strengthening oral communication (speaking and listening skills) rather than departing from dry grammar lectures (although grammar is important sometimes too, of course!). In terms of themes, I like to let my students choose topics related to their culture (or Spanish culture) so that conversations can be interesting to both and we can learn about each other's countries and backgrounds. My main interests are popular culture, literature, film and history, all of which provide a powerful way of contextualising the language that we're learning!
