About Camila

¡Hola! I’m Camila, a native Spanish speaker from Colombia, and a graduate student at the University of Toronto.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Communications and have about five years of professional experience in marketing and communications, working with cross-cultural teams across different countries. Communicating clearly with people from different backgrounds has always been at the core of what I do, and it’s something I bring to every lesson.

I’ve spent years in language exchange environments, connecting with learners from around the world, and I’ve tutored both Spanish and English, helping students build confidence and speak more naturally. I

Fully bilingual in Spanish and English, and currently learning French myself, I know firsthand what it takes to learn a new language as an adult. I’m patient, organized, and genuinely passionate about helping my students reach their goals while discovering the richness of Latin American culture.

About the lesson

My lessons are built around you. Before we start, we’ll talk about why you want to learn Spanish, whether it’s for an upcoming trip, your career, connecting with a partner or family, keeping up with school, or simply the joy of speaking a new language. From there, I design lessons that fit your level, your pace, and your goals.

My approach
I focus on real, practical communication. You’ll start speaking from the very first class, in a relaxed and supportive space where mistakes are part of learning. Grammar and vocabulary are always taught in context, through everyday situations, conversations, music, short videos, and topics you actually care about.

A typical lesson
- A warm-up conversation to practice speaking and review what we’ve learned
- A new topic, expression, or grammar point explained clearly in English or Spanish
- Practice activities and role-plays based on real situations (ordering food, travelling, meetings, small talk)
- Feedback on pronunciation and common mistakes
- A short, optional task to keep practicing between lessons

What sets me apart
As a native speaker from Colombia with a background in communications, I know how to explain things simply and clearly. I’ve also learned French as an adult, so I understand the challenges of learning a language and how to make it feel manageable. And you won’t just learn the language: you’ll also discover Latin American culture, slang, and expressions you won’t find in a textbook.
