About Samuel
I'm originally from Mexico and now split my time between Mexico and Oxford, giving me the opportunity to experience two very different cultures that I love sharing with my students.
Outside the classroom, I'm passionate about Hispanic history, culture, and travel. I believe that every place has a story to tell, and I enjoy bringing those stories into my lessons—whether it's exploring the fascinating history of ancient civilisations, discussing modern-day traditions, or recommending some of Mexico's hidden gems that most tourists never discover.
When I'm not teaching, you'll probably find me outdoors. I love spending time in nature, exploring forests, hiking, and making the most of the countryside. Home is also wonderfully chaotic thanks to my collection of rescue dogs (who always seem to have a new adventure planned!) and my chickens, who keep life entertaining every single day.
I believe learning a language should be enjoyable, inspiring, and full of real-life connections. Whether we're talking about Mexican food, history, travel, or everyday life, I love helping students discover the rich cultures behind the Spanish language as well as the language itself.

Hola! I'm Samuel, a native Spanish teacher from Mexico with a degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), one of Latin America's leading universities. I teach students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to advanced university students, as well as those preparing for GCSE, A Level, and other Spanish qualifications.
My lessons are built around one simple idea: you learn a language by using it. While grammar is important, I focus on helping you communicate confidently through meaningful conversation, collaborative activities, and practical language production from the very first lesson. My structured approach ensures that every class has clear objectives while remaining engaging and tailored to your individual goals.
One of my greatest passions is bringing Spanish to life through the culture, history, and traditions of the Spanish-speaking world. As a native Mexican teacher who has lived and worked in both Mexico and Oxford, I love sharing authentic expressions, real-life stories, and cultural insights that help students understand not just the language, but the people who speak it.
Lessons are typically one hour long and are carefully planned to suit your level, pace, and learning style. Whether you're aiming for top exam grades, preparing for university, learning for travel, or simply want to become more confident speaking Spanish, I'll provide patient guidance, motivation, and personalised feedback every step of the way.
