About S’özge

10 years of experience in teaching. "Being a teacher is my character." I would like to teach as much as I'd like to learn about my students and learn from them. I was a teacher in Istanbul. now, I am pursuing my PhD in Chicago and miss teaching!

About the lesson

For the beginners, we will begin our journey by exploring the Turkish alphabet and learning basic everyday expressions. Rather than teaching individual words, we will adopt a whole-sentence approach that later focuses on chunks and suffixes (because Turkish is an agglutinating language). This method enables us to generate and apply these expressions in daily life independently. For grammar and reading comprehension, we will employ the translation method to understand Turkish grammar better.

I facilitate abstract argument development in Turkish for advanced learners.

Also, I teach children who are Turkish citizens and who would like to improve their knowledge of Turkish history and culture through etymology, Turkish songs (türkü), movies, proverbs (atasözleri), cuisine, and geography.

I share class notes and presentations after each session to record your learning journey. You don’t need to take notes unless you want to. I also assign homework for extra practice. The optimal study time for learning a language is about an hour a day. If you don’t have that much time, we can work together to create a study schedule that fits your needs.
