About Riley
My name is Riley, I am an A-level student coming into my second year of A-levels. I am dyslexic and understand how difficult some things can be, especially within the education system. Biology was my favourite subject at GCSE and is now my joint favourite at A-level alongside Chemistry. I went through many stages of learning at GCSE, making extremely detailed notes (that I never read) to making intense revision schedules that I never followed. It was only around January that I began to understand how I should be revising and from that, I have learnt a lot. I have really enjoyed A-level biology so far, going between an A and A* in progress assessments (the first year is equivalent to the AS course). I want to make sure others can get the grades they deserve. I only recently finished GCSEs and the AS course and so I feel I have a good understanding of the best ways to learn. I also know that there are many methods of learning, and want to be able to provide that based on the student. Some find small breaks helpful, others need long revision sessions. Some find visual learning easier, others prefer written. I am willing to adjust based on those preferences.

This tutoring is aimed towards GCSE level Biology students (separate sciences, ideally higher), and AS level Biology students. Sessions will typically be 1-2 hours long. If you learn best with small breaks, that can be worked into the schedule. I will generally use a learn, practice, teach scheme, where I will teach you some information, allowing you to make notes (or to reinforce information from already made notes). This will be followed by practice, I will provide questions for you to answer to enforce your understanding. This will begin with worked examples, followed by you answering questions yourself where I can focus on reteaching anything specifically challenging. Finally, you can verbalise what you have learnt back to me, explaining it as though I were the student to enforce everything you have learnt. I will provide resources for you to practice further outside of sessions so the information is not forgotten. If there is any specific method you know works best for you, then let me know and I can make adjustments. I am an A-level student coming into my second year, having taken GCSE Biology myself (coming out with a 9/A*) and having finished the AS section of my course, I believe I will be able to provide effective tutoring in Biology.
