About Pedro
My passion for mathematics began through math competitions, where I discovered the excitement of solving challenging problems and thinking creatively. I am currently pursuing a degree in Mathematics at New York University, where I continue to deepen my understanding of the subject.
I have experience with a variety of mathematics examinations, having taken the IB Mathematics exams and the SAT myself(1550). I also enjoy challenging myself with problems from mathematical competitions and other advanced sources, which keeps my problem-solving skills sharp. In addition, I have extensive experience teaching college-level calculus, helping students develop both a solid conceptual understanding and strong computational skills. As a tutor, I believe that every student learns at their own pace. I don't believe in rushing through material—I want to make sure you truly understand each concept before moving on. Whether you're preparing for exams, improving your grades, tackling college-level mathematics, or training for competitions, I tailor every lesson to your goals and learning style, creating a supportive environment where you can build confidence and long-lasting mathematical intuition.

Every student has unique strengths, challenges, and learning styles, so my first priority is creating an environment where they feel comfortable, confident, and supported. During our first session, I'll get to know the student and discuss their goals, strengths, and areas of difficulty with them (and, when appropriate, with a parent or guardian) so I can tailor my teaching to their individual needs. Some students need additional practice to build fluency, while others need help identifying recurring mistakes, improving problem-solving strategies, or overcoming test anxiety, time management issues, or a lack of confidence. My goal is not only to teach the material but also to help students develop the habits and mindset needed to succeed independently. After each lesson, I assess their progress and adjust my approach to ensure they continue improving at a pace that works for them. For more advanced subjects, such as college calculus, I place greater emphasis on developing a deep conceptual understanding and mastering the step-by-step reasoning behind more rigorous problems. Above all, I never believe in rushing through material—I want every student to genuinely understand each concept before moving on, building both confidence and long-term mathematical intuition.
