Hi, my name is Hari Naik and I am presently working as an AI Member Research Staff in Central Research Laboratory, Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore. I got into the job through placements from NIT Calicut where I’ve done my major project under the guidance of Prof.Lyla B Das. I highly recommend professor’s course as because of her lectures I could crack the interview. She makes lectures so simple in understanding and applying the concepts. The AI course that I took included basic to the advanced level. Her continuous guidance on learning the latest developed models and algorithms in the project helped me a lot professionally. I assure you the course outcome will be highly satisfactory and gives you confidence of cracking the interviews.
I am happy to share that our research paper “Design of a Personal Digital Assistant for the Visually Challenged” was successfully presented at the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, and Communications Technology (IAICT) at Bali and is now on IEEE explore. I take this opportunity to show our gratitude to our beloved professor B. Das Lyla madam for her consistent support and motivation throughout our project.
My association with Lyla ma’am started with taking her elective during the 5th semester of my graduation. She keeps her class lively and interactive; she is very active it is almost impossible to go unnoticed in the class. She is one of the best in recognizing talents and she is always open and available to students to discuss things and they come out of her room with a smile! She is so supportive that she encouraged us to do this after 2 years of our graduation and she represented our paper and presented it personally at the conference. We take this opportunity to show our gratitude to our Lyla B Das ma’am and wish her the best energy and health so that she keeps motivating aspiring minds.I am currently working as a Software Engineer at Google, and I have taken classes from Lyla mam during my undergraduate degree at NIT Calicut. I attended her Data structures and Design of Intelligent Systems classes, and it was a wonderful learning experience. Being an electronics student, these were the courses that introduced me to Computer Science and laid foundation for where I am right now. The teaching style is quite interactive, and the hands-on in the form of assignments are useful for better understanding of the subject. Lyla mam is very knowledgable and experienced, and is very helpful to her students.
During my undergraduate studies in Electronics and Communication Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Calicut, Lyla ma'am taught me three subjects- ‘Data Structures Using C++’, ’Embedded Systems’ and ‘Design Of Intelligent Systems '. After my undergraduate studies , I worked in the IT industry as a software engineer for more than 2 years.I am currently pursuing my Masters in Information Systems and Operations Management at the University of Nottingham.
During my undergraduate studies, Lyla Ma’am was the entire batch’s favourite professor and her electives were always the popular choice among students. She is an exceptionally gifted lecturer who keeps her students engaged in all her lectures and encourages active participation in the class. Most of her classes are packed to capacity. She has always been approachable and can bring out the best in her students. Most importantly, she possesses a skill that is essential to the teaching profession—the capacity to understand how students think. She always has her students' best interests in mind and directs any activity that would help them develop their technical skills. It isn’t just her lectures that were popular, the book “Embedded Systems: An Integrated Approach” authored by her was the go-to book for all students studying the subject.
It has been an absolute privilege learning and working under Lyla ma'am. If we consider typical engineering standards of the present times, her method of teaching stands unconventional. Her lectures are engaging and interactive.
Rarely it is found that a faculty has such personal connect with his/her students. And Lyla ma'am excels in this matter.
There were times when the subject topics turned out tough to tackle. But her presence made sure to offer keys and solutions to the problems.
She carries an amazing personality both inside and outside the classroom walls. Ma'am brings in her diverse knowledge of the world around to add nuances to insightful academic as well as non-academic conversations.
Based on my experience of working with Lyla ma'am, I'll be forever indebted by whatever I've received from her.I could attend Lyla madam's classes during my masters. Her easy and effortless approach on complex topics made it easy to get a grasp on them. I would recommend to attend her classes.
(I am an MTech graduate from NIT Calicut, currently, an Asst. Professor in Dep. of ECE at Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, Kochi, Kerala and a part time research scholar in CUSAT Kochi. )
One of the best resource person in embedded and microprocessor domain, Lyla Miss, was the co-ordinator of our batch and had handled two theory courses, practical labs, seminars and projects.
She was a real mentor to us both during the course and still after eight years we do contact her for her guidance and expertise in the electronics filed.
I have considered her as a role model. Her teaching, student handling and management skills are very good and she guided me many times when I started with my career as an adhoc faculty in NITC.
The way she handled the course made us gain expertise in embedded/processor domain. The practical sessions were intended to make us gain knowledge about latest technologies/processors.
Being a resource person for industry, she gave many talks and visits during our course duration, which introduced us to the latest technology and processors available (to be introduced) in the market. The books by Lyla Miss on embedded system and microprocessors was one of the main reference for us for both theory and practical session.
She is very dedicated and sincere faculty, who introduced new industry relevant course in our third semester. Now as a faculty I understand the difficulty and work behind introducing a new course.
The way she handle the course ensure that we will love the domain - one of the reason for selecting multi -core processor architecture as my research domain.

MTech in Electronics Design and Technology,
NITC , 2012 -2014 Batch.I got an opportunity to attend Lyla Mam's class in NIT,for one of my semester.
Her way of teaching a concept is vivid and simple. Any complex topic, she makes it look so easy and effortless. Her class/notes is something all you need to solve anything in the exam.
The style of her teaching is contemporary with industry needs.every class she taught are backed by lab with practical approach. Basics that are learnt from Lyla Mam's teaching are something, that laid foundation for my medical device R&D journey. her teachings have created interest to learn electronics for many people and have landed them in top tech industries. Still feel fortune having met such a prolific teacher and mentor ..hope her teachings continue to bring many tech savvy people to the industry.. happy learningLyla Ma'am is an amazing teacher. She has numerous years of experience in the field of electronics/electrical engineering and has authored multiple books which are widely used by scholars. She has exceptional communication skills and can convey concepts well and understands the needs of the students. Also, she was very approachable and friendly, we could ask her any doubts without hesitation. She was always willing to clear them. I was never bored and thoroughly enjoyed her classes. I would highly recommend her to anyone interested in Electronics/Electrical engineering.
Lyla B taught me two different subjects (Artificial Intelligence and Data Structures) during my undergraduate program. I used to always look forward to her classes. They were always filled with activities which made learning fun. She had a personal relationship with almost every single student which made her extremely approachable. She used to always find time to clear our doubts and have discussions with us despite her very busy schedule. She is one of the very few teachers I kept in touch with even after college. A lot of the concepts that she taught me five years ago are still fresh in my head only because of her way of teaching. Her classes were never monotonous or boring. I truly believe that she is one of the most memorable, understanding, dedicated, kind and approachable teachers I've had.
Really amazing teacher. She taught the concept in practical aspects. Assignment given along with theory classes were very helpfull in understanding the concepts shared during the session.
Thank you ma'am for making us aware of basics of AI and machine learning.View more recommendations
