About Alex
As a student with a background in many learning environments ranging from specialized music schools (Jazz House Kids) to pre-college/conservatory curricula (Manhattan School of Music Precollege Jazz Program) to an Ivy League, liberal arts college music program (Princeton University), I understand the value of conventional learning methods balanced with personal learning methods driven by self-discovery, curiosity, and self-imposed goals. Knowing that every music student has a deeply personal path, I prioritize the development of the relationship between the student and the material more so than the pace of learning or the mastery of material in the traditional sense.

Lessons are for students of all backgrounds and ages. The primary focus of saxophone and theory lessons is to demystify the academia that prohibits music students from using theory to their advantage as creative musicians, regardless of the genre. My lessons focus on delivering textbook concepts with a personal touch, focusing on the student's ability not only to understand concepts but use them in a way that is constructive to their music making, whether as composers, improvisers, or performers.
