About Samantha R
I have 5 years of experience working with many age groups and love to help my students succeed. For the past 3 years, I worked as a Middle School Science Teacher for 5th and 7th grade. I have also worked as a camp counselor for 7th graders and high school students, and as a science specialty counselor for ages 5-17.
I graduated from NYU in 2018, where I received my B.A. in Biology on the Pre-Health track. My studies at NYU versed me in biology, chemistry, and physics. As a teacher, I have taught earth science and chemistry, with units on biology and physics. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a student understand and get excited about science, and I would love to help you get there!

I have taught in-person and remotely, and have many tools for STEM education! I utilize powerpoint slides with engaging images, as well as several websites with virtual experiments to help students visualize scientific phenomena. I like to assess student understanding with in-session assignments that are targeted towards the big idea of the lesson. After they work independently, we will go through what they did well and what to improve upon. I always strive to make sure students feel confident, really understand the content (and not just memorize!), and are clear on next steps. I have specifically worked with 5th and 7th graders, but I am very open to different age groups.
