About Lauren
I'm a first-generation academic from a working class background, with a neurodivergent mind and a sensitive soul, so I know what it's like to feel out of place in academic environments. I'm passionate about supporting students to thrive in their English Literature degrees, not just by providing essay writing tips or subject-specific knowledge, but by helping you connect meaningfully and deeply with texts and building your confidence to express your ideas about the books you're studying. I do this by developing creative activities, journaling prompts and lesson plans that interest and inspire you, and by being your compassionate cheerleader.

I hold a PhD in English Literature and have taught at top UK universities. My calling is to facilitate deep and meaningful engagement with literature and your inner self, in tandem. My personalised tutoring blends personal reflection with literary study to create a sacred and empowering space for your intellectual and inner growth. I create interactive lesson plans and creative activities to keep you engaged and draw out your most inspired ideas and critical reflections on the texts we study. I adapt my teaching to your needs, staying sensitive to neurodivergence, introversion, chronic illness or whatever you might be struggling with. Online sessions can be 40-50 minutes, with breaks where needed, held online with gentle activities prepared for you before, during and after the session, to help you dive deep into literary texts and your own growth. I support undergraduate and postgraduate students and have experience teaching international students and providing essay writing support and feedback.
