About Anna
Hi! I'm Anna.
I have over 10 years of tutoring and teaching experience at the high school and college level. I am very good at explaining math and science concepts multiple ways to help each student build their comprehension. I received a PhD in Ocean Sciences and STEM teaching certificate from UCSC.
I am consistently complemented by students for being able to explain a concept multiple ways. Depending on a student's prior understanding, some material is easier to learn than others. Being able to adjust my explanation of based on a student's former understanding is helpful to move quickly through some material and focus our time together on the material where the student needs the most help and on building the logical problem solving skills to work through problems without additional guidance.

It is important to me that each of my students learns how to approach a problem and work through the problem. So I focus on the fundamentals and building understanding, rather than quick-tricks or short-cuts that only work in specific contexts. The practice of logically working through a problem is key to math and science, but sometimes skipped over.
My lessons are best for students in high school and college classes for students that need specialized instruction or additional help.
