About Ali
Hi, I'm Ali! I recently completed my A-levels, achieving an A in Chemistry, and I'm now going on to study Medicine at university.
I specialise in OCR A A-level Chemistry, having recently completed the course myself. This means I understand the challenges that come with A-level Chemistry and, more importantly, the difference between simply knowing the content and being able to apply it effectively in an exam.
I'm friendly, patient and approachable, and I want my lessons to be a space where you feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Whether you're struggling with a particular topic, looking to improve your exam technique or aiming for a higher grade, I'll work with you to identify what you need to improve and build your confidence along the way.
My aim is to help you understand Chemistry rather than just memorise it, so that you can eventually tackle unfamiliar questions independently and confidently.

My lessons are designed specifically around OCR A A-level Chemistry and are tailored to each student's individual needs.
I like to combine clear explanations with worked examples and exam-style questions, so that you can immediately put what you've learned into practice. Rather than spending an entire lesson simply going through notes, we'll focus on understanding why something works and how to apply it to unfamiliar exam questions.
I'm particularly focused on exam technique, including how to break down questions, approach calculations, interpret what a question is asking and understand what examiners are looking for in your answers.
Depending on your goals, lessons can include:
Explaining difficult topics and concepts
Chemistry calculations and problem-solving
Inorganic and physical chemistry
Organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms
Exam-style and past-paper questions
Exam technique and mark-scheme skills
Retrieval practice and revision
